20 Insane Customizations Pimp My Ride Actually Made


Remember 2000's MTV?

Pimp My Ride did more than fixing up old, beat-down cars. The show turned them into something completely unexpected and new. Although some upgrades were fun, others made no sense at all! Nevertheless, every single one was unforgettable. Here’s a look at some of the wildest transformations that left viewers equal parts amazed, speechless, and downright confused.

1. Adding A Chandelier To A 1981 Pontiac Trans Am

The 1981 Pontiac Trans Am that appeared on the eighth episode of season 1 had seen better days. But Xzibit and his team wanted to take it to another level by installing a chandelier and a coffee machine.

2. Fitting A 1973 VW With A Terrarium

Think lush plants, tiny trees, and live greenery... all inside the car! The cast of Pimp My Ride actually got a full terrarium built into the interior of a 1973 VW Beetle. The car's vibe was definitely a first... and probably a last, too!

3. Installing A Juicer Into A 1976 AMC Pacer

When a student studying to be a nutritionist asked for her car to be upgraded, she probably didn’t expect the end result. The crew added shag carpeting, two monitors, and a 10" subwoofer. However, nobody expected that they’d fit it with a fully functional juicer.

4. Turning A 1984 Ford LTD Crown Victoria Station Wagon Into A CAT Scan

For this wild ride, the Ford LTD Crown Victoria was reimagined as a mobile medical unit. The crew transformed the back of the station wagon into a full-on CAT scan machine, as the car belonged to an aspiring nurse.

5. Topping A 1987 Chevy K-5 Blazer With An Ice Blower

When someone who loved snowboarding appeared on the show, the Pimp My Ride guys made sure they didn't miss this detail. They upgraded his 1987 Chevy K-5 Blazer with a 30-inch monitor, custom rims, and an ice blower for an extra edge.

6. Changing A 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser Into A Yoga Studio

In season 1, Pimp My Ride had a tough mission. They were dealing with a 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser, which the owner bought for only $200. The new paint job and neon lights behind the grille were nothing compared to the yoga studio they installed in the rear.

7. Equipping A 1997 Toyota RAV4 With A Chocolate Fountain

The owner of a 1997 Toyota RAV4 told Xzibit and the guys that getting dates was a bit hard while he was driving his old vehicle. So what did they do? They fitted it with a chocolate fountain and some candles to set the mood right.

8. Installing The Sistine Chapel Roof On A 1957 Chevy Panel Truck

When the viewers saw the damaged 1957 Chevy Panel Truck, they probably thought it was beyond repair. However, the crew added some impressive artwork, installed marble floors, printed Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, and stuck it to the car’s roof.

Xzibit and his crew didn’t give up when they saw all the dents and chips on the 1987 Chevy Blazer. They actually made sure it would look and feel amazing with 20-inch rims, HD monitors, and an electric fireplace that kept it warm and cozy.

10. Installing A Screen And Popcorn Popper To A 1991 Chevy Cavalier Convertible

An old 1991 Chevy Cavalier Convertible got a complete movie night makeover on Pimp My Ride. The car wasn’t a disaster, but it needed something extra. The team successfully installed monitors to the headrests, a projector, and a popcorn maker.

11. Adding A Pool Table To A 1988 Chevrolet S-10

In season 3, the team faced a real challenge: a rusty 1988 Chevy S-10 that looked hopeless. This didn’t stop the guys as they painted it, installed a 15-inch monitor, and even fitted the truck with a pool table and a fog machine.

12. Inserting A Flamethrower Into The Tailpipe Of A 1967 Ford Mustang

The 1967 Ford Mustang that appeared in Season 1 E6 was missing part of the floor. After fixing it, they got a weird idea and installed a flamethrower into the tailpipe. Since mods like this were illegal, that flamethrower was later removed.

13. Upgrading A 1985 Ford Econoline Van With A Hot Tub

Appearing in the season 1 E1, this Van’s owner was an accountant who also had a band. Knowing that he would spend long hours in his vehicle, Xzibit and his team fitted it with a hot tub for a crazy mobile spa experience.

14. Shooting Salmon Eggs Out Of A 1996 Ford Contour

After a bear scratched a 1996 Ford Contour, Xzibit gave the car a custom paint job with exaggerated bear paw swipes that went on both sides. He even installed a canon that throws salmon eggs to distract bears that might attack the car.

15. Adding A Grill To A 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Hearse

In the show’s last episode, the team painted a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Hearse in glossy black with a catchy purple trim. They also added a cool coffin that doubles as a grill with all the accessories needed for a BBQ.

16. Fitting A 1989 Mitsubishi Mirage With A Fish Tank

Pimp My Ride’s team once transformed a 1989 Mitsubishi Mirage by adding an aquarium that housed two pet fish. Moreover, they gave it new trims and fitted it with a PS2 and an entertainment system.

The 1965 El Camino that appeared in season 5 had a rat’s nest in the glove compartment. After cleaning and painting the ride, they decided to turn it into a man cave with monitors, satellite TV, a 5,000-watt amplifier, a propane grill, and a bar.

Pink dust coming out of a vehicle sounds like something you’d see in a movie, but this is what Pimp My Ride’s crew did with a beaten-up 1965 Thunderbird. They also fitted it with an impressive sound system and the latest entertainment center.

19. Ping Pong Tables On A 1985 Ford Ranger

In season 1 E7, the team had to upgrade a 1985 Ford Ranger. They replaced the rotting paint and damaged seats and then went on to install ping-pong tables and a 23-inch monitor to make the car one of a kind.

20. Installing Four Screens To A 2003 Toyota Corolla

A 2003 Toyota Corolla made it to the show after getting into an accident. The owner couldn’t put the car in reverse, and it desperately needed a glow-up. Xzibit fixed that issue and fitted four big screens outside the car.
